Cheboygan High School Chiefs Hockey
The 2015-16 season is the 17th year for Cheboygan Chiefs Hockey. The team's inaugural season was 1999-2000. The Chiefs play in the Northern Michigan Hockey League and are a Division III school of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. The Cheboygan Chiefs Hockey program is totally funded through the Cheboygan Blueliners Club.
Craig Coxe is in his fifth season as Head Coach of the Chiefs. Coach Coxe is a veteran coach at multiple levels from youth hockey to Minor Professional hockey. He is a former NHL player with the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks. For a 7th year, Assistant Coach Tom Smith will also serve as the team's Strength & Conditioning Trainer. Volunteer Assistant Coaches are Kevin Chapman and Mickey Malmborg. Trainer is Emily Mahoney.

Chiefs Win 4th Straight!
February 10 - At Ralph G. Cantile Arena inside the Cheboygan Ice Pavilion, Cheboygan beat Alpena, 7-3. The Chiefs are now 13-7-1 and will play host to St. Ignace on Wednesday, February 17, 7:00 p.m. The Chiefs will then head to the NMHL Conference tournament, February 19 & 20, hosted by Manistee. Cheboygan wraps up the regular season at home with Senior Night vs. Cadillac on February 26.

Congratulations Adam Jeannotte!
Cheboygan's Senior Captain was recently named the Player of the Week for the North Region by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association (MHSHCA) for his performance during the Christmas Showcase, December 18 & 19. Adam tallied 6 goals and 4 assists that weekend against Midland and Midland Dow. He currently leads the team in goals (13) and assists (21), and has moved into 2nd place on the Chiefs career assist list with 92, just one behind Isaac Viau. The Player of the Week awards this season are being coordinated by the coaching staff at Lawrence Tech University in Southfield. The Chiefs are headed to Bay City Tuesday to take on the Bay Area Thunder. This weekend, Cheboygan plays at Michigan Tech on Saturday and Escanaba on Sunday. The Chiefs' next home game is January 6th against the Sault. "Meet the Chiefs" is set for January 9th vs. Big Rapids.

Another classic! A close Alumni Game played December 26 with White squad beating Black squad, 8-6. Proceeds go to support Chief High School Hockey.
Chiefs Lose at Alpena
The Wildcats beat Cheboygan, 3-1 in Alpena Saturday night. The game was scoreless after two periods. The Chiefs scored first in the third period on a goal from Evan Jewell. But the Wildcats responded with two power play goals to take the lead, along with an empty-netter with less than a minute to play. The Wildcats improve to 6-1, while the Chiefs are now 4-3. Cheboygan will now host the Christmas Showcase, December 18 & 19.
Chiefs Fall in OT
It was a back and forth game at the Ralph G. Cantile Arena, but the Jets get the game winner in the extra session. Goal scorers for Cheboygan were Zach Stempky (2), Dakota Bell, Jarrod Bourgeois and Jasic Callan. Addings assits were Adam Jeannotte (2), Cole Williams (2), Bell, Bourgeois, Callan, and Craig Bongard. Goalie Carl Bartholomew made 26 saves for the Chiefs. WCBY Player of the Game was Dakota Bell. The Impact Player was Jarrod Bourgeois.
Cheboygan shutout Dearborn Unified, 4-0 on Saturday, December 5. It was the Chiefs home opener and it was Parents Night. Carl Bartholomew was in net for the win. WCBY Player of the Game was Zach Stempky. The Impact Player of the Game was Cole Williams. Cheboygan improves to 4-1 and will host Painesdale-Jeffers on Thursday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m.
Chiefs Mercy Cadillac
The Chiefs pick up a win tonight in Cadillac! Cheboygan won by mercy rule, 9-1 in the 3rd period! The Chiefs (3-1) look forward to their first home game on Saturday against Dearborn Unified at 7:00 PM. It will be Parents Night at Ralph G. Cantile Arena!
The Chiefs are now 2-1 on the young season after earning a split in the U.P. over the weekend. Cheboygan lost at Marquette, 9-1, but beat Negaunee, 11-4. The Chiefs' only goal against the Redmen came in the second period when Craig Bongard tipped in a shot from Matt Grisdale. Marquette outshot Cheboygan, 30-9. Against the Miners, the Chiefs were led by Adam Jeannotte (4 goals, 2 assists) and Jasic Callan (3 goals). Jarrod Bourgeois (goal, assist) and Garrett Christie (goal) scored their first varsity points. Also scoring for the Chiefs were Bongard (1 goal, 3 assists), Zach Stempky (goal), Dakota Bell (2 assists), Cole Williams, (2 assists), and Parker James (assist). Cheboygan outshot Negaunee, 53-34. Tyler Kiper was in net for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs are now off until they travel to Cadillac on December 2. FYI, the November 28 game vs. Algoma (Soo, Ontario) has been cancelled. The Chiefs first home game will now be December 5, Parents Night against Dearborn.
Chiefs Shutout Petoskey
The Chiefs start out the season with a win on the road against Petoskey, 6-0. Carl Bartholomew gets the shutout between the pipes for Cheboygan. The Player of the Game was Craig Bongard with 2 goals and 3 assists. Connor McMullen is named the Impact Player of the Game as he got an assist for his first varsity point. Cheboygan outshot the Northmen, 34-12.
